About Kevin

Humble Memphis Beginnings
to International Performer and Songwriter

Kevin D Stroud grew up outside Memphis, Tennessee in the town of Bolton, listening to FM 100 radio hit songs of the day as a kid in the 1980’s. A multi-instrumentalist, Stroud started playing Alto Saxophone in the late 80’s and everything just sort of took off from there. Guitar was his main passion though, guitar and songwriting. In High School Stroud formed an alternative blues/rock band. Senior year, full paid music scholarship and Stroud packed his bags and headed down to Mississippi where he got a real feel for the blues in meeting and jamming with RL Burnside and Junior Kimbrough.

Europe Travels: Blues Roots on Tour

From 1999 to 2001 Stroud backed up Soul/Blues legend Little Milton, starring in blues festivals all across the United States, Scandinavia, England, and Europe. 2001 Stroud traveled to France and put a band together for the legendary Joe Turner And The Memphis Blues Caravan for 6 months before returning to the United States just days after 911.

Emerging Songwriter: Billboard Blues Charts and Beyond

In August 2002 Stroud penned the title track cut to Bernard Allison’s 2nd release on the Tone Cool label, “Storms Of Life.” “Storms Of Life” debuted at #5 on The Billboard Blues Charts and stayed there for 11 weeks in 2002.

Most recently Kevin D Stroud and his collaborator, pro Nashville writer Marc Alan Barnette have just won 1st prize category and 2nd overall prize in Gospel/Inspirational for their song collaboration, “Dance In Heaven” in the 27th Annual USA Songwriting Competition. Kevin is also a proud member of The Blues Foundation and Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).
